Dallas Gray
Tenor Dallas Gray is a recent graduate of the University of Maryland where he received the Master of Music degree in Opera Performance. He received his undergraduate training at DePauw University where he was a two-time winner in the annual Concerto Competition, was awarded the Performance Certificate, and was a first-place winner in the Great Lakes Regional NATS competition.
Most recently, he attended the Aspen Summer Music Festival and School where he performed various scenes with orchestra and was also part of the opera ensemble. He performed the roles of Lippo Fiorentino and Daniel Buchanan in the Maryland Opera Studio’s production of Kurt Weill’s Street Scene as well as the role of Billy in Weill’s Mahagonny Songspiel. He also premiered the role of Nick Esposito in the world premiere of Town Hall. Other roles include Sam in Street Scene and Laurie in Mark Adamo’s Little Women, as well as roles in The Coronation of Poppea and Jason Robert Brown’s Parade. Additionally, he sang Monty Navarro in a scene from A Gentleman’s Guide to Love and Murder that won first place in the National Opera Association’s Collegiate Scenes Competition.
Dallas attended an internship with the renowned vocal ensemble Voces8 where he spent three weeks touring Germany before returning to Great Britain for the two summer programs hosted by the ensemble. Mr. Gray is a Texas native and comes from a family of actors and musicians from whom he draws great inspiration. Dallas is a member of the Houston Grand Opera chorus.
